- evaluation and simulation of electromagnetic fields
Overview
REMFE (VICREM is the original Italian acronym) is a software package aimed to the evaluation and simulation of electromagnetic fields. Both tasks may be performed for far and near (radiative) areas, where the contribution of a set of N transmitters is taken into account. The latter may include broadcasting (composite) transmitters.
A special purpose database is provided to describe the main characteristics of each installation, including its georeferencing data. These data may be easily updated and used also as a map generation source together with geographic information. The underlying geographic model may include several data types, like DEMs (Digital Elevation), raster images (typically aerial photos), vector point and polylines, etc..
VICREM toolbox provides also analysis functions which allow a thorough exploration and evaluation of the solid model environment.
Among these functions the following can be found: interactive presentations, both 2D and 3D, coordinate conversions (nine different references are available simultaneously), information levels selection, altitude analysis on given locations and on a per–area basis, distance and azimuth calculations, in–sight area evaluation, cross sections and circular horizon presentation from any User selectable location.
Features
Main features
- Transmitter types: Single transmitters: Telephony Base Stations, Radio Links, WLL; Composite transmitters: Radio-TV Broadcasting.
- Evaluated field: Far and near (radiative) e.m. fields.
- Evaluation models: Free Space (optionally taking into account for optical and/or radio visibility and for crossing attenuation), Okumura-Hata, Cost 231-Hata, CCIR, CCIR-TCA, Point-To-Point, ITU 1546.
- Measuring units: V/m, dBµV/m, dBW/m².
- Scale, threshold, scanning step: User definable.
- Data Base: MS-Access or Oracle (depending on configuration). Tables import/export via MS-Excel files. All main objects may be linked to MS-Windows counterparts.
- Evaluation zone shape: Rectangle, Circle, Ring, Sector, User selectable.
- Transmitters selection criteria: Geographic location, Frequency, Status.
- Evaluation criteria: User definable areas (over the DEM, over vertical or horizontal planes, inside prisms). Single transmitters contribution may be underlined.
- Optional calculations: Compliance analysis according to Italian Recommendation (DPCM) dated july 8, 2003.
- Graphical presentation: 2D (over the geographic model layers and/or in diagrammatic form), 3D for any calculated result, guard volumes (both analytical and prism-shaped), isolevel surfaces.
- Output: ArcView Grid 2D, guided report generation in MS-Excel format concerning the alleged electromagnetic pollution according to the performed calculations.
