RadioTv Forum
Aeranti-CoralloVector will attend the first RadioTv Forum Workshop set by Aeranti-Corallo. It will be held in Milan at Casa dell’Energia, Piazza Po n.3 on November, 3rd. The day will be entirely focused on the hot italian subject related to switch-over from analog to digital terrestrial TV. During the event, there will be technical workshops and seminars on the subject.

Third National Conference "Environmental Control of Physical Agents"
Vector will attend the Third National Conference "Environmental Control of Physical Agents: from the monitoring to the actions of improvement and reclamation", to be held in Biella (Città Studi), June 7-9, 2006. Cooperation between ISCOM and Vector
ISCOM (The Central Institute for Communications and Information Technology of the Italian Government) has been using since a long time WinRPT, the Vector radio planning tool aimed to the design, simulation and management of radio networks. More recently, ISCOM has extended the installed modules to include the volume clearance evaluation in compliance with the national regulations about the exposure to electro magnetic fields. The output data may be produced both in numeric and graphical form.
New WinELF release
The new WinELF Release is ready. Shipments will start at the end of May. This Release marks a significant improvement in integration with the ESRI Application environment. More specifically, it is now possibile to export detailed power line descriptions taken from the WinELF data base. Also, the magnetic field contour lines may be generated and exported in Shapefile format. Finally, as already done in the REMFE (Radio Electro Magnertic Field Evaluator) module, all the magnetic field data generated over user definable planes during the simulation and forecasting sessions may be exported in ArcView Grid format. Needless to say, all these data exports are fully automated and require almost no User intervention

Vector is cooperating with the Environmental Sciences Department of Naples Second University
The cooperation is centered on the EMF (electro magnetic fields) modeling and monitoring for the Campania Italian Region. These fields may be generated both by broadcasting and base radio stations. Currently some continuously operating monitoring points are active in Counties of the Caserta and Salerno Provinces. The simulation model is based upon Vector’s VICREM software tool, which allows both three-dimensional analysis and display. This software is expected to be validated by comparing the simulation results with the actually measured data. The latter will be acquired in time and space continuous series, thanks to a prototypical EMF measuring system.
The Dart terminal
DART (Data Acquisition & Recognition Terminal) is a Citec product aimed to the Land and Environmental Protection Agencies. This terminal allows the acquisition of several data kinds (spatial, alphanumeric, digital images) which are automatically associated with date, time and location. The DART terminal integrates a digital camera, an electronic compass, a GPS receiver and a GSM/GRPS module. DART also sports a wide and easy-to-read display – even in severe environmental conditions. Needless to say, it is equipped with a keyboard, a touch screen device, and with serial (RS232) USB and infrared (IrDA) ports. The acquired data may be stored on removable ROM cards or be sent over the GSM/GPRS link. Its integration with Company Information Systems is simple and straightforward. The software environment is based upon Microsoft WinCE 4.2 (CE.NET), while the integrated devices programming and interfacing is performed with the supplied DLL’s. DART application fields include: Land Data Acquisition; Field works progress Monitoring;Environment Monitoring (Resources Allocation, Agriculture, Illegal Building Activities detection);Transportations and Logistics (Emergency Vehicles, Taxi Location and Dispatching, Cars and Trains Tracking); Money carrying armored Vans Tracking; Search and Rescue; Etc.

WinEDT and the 88th Tour of Italy Bike Race
Last May the world famous bike race – the Giro d’Italia – has been held in its edition number 88. To follow the race, RAI – Radiotelevisione Italiana – has been using WinEDT, the software tool by Vector. A special version had been expanded to include application specific functions aimed to technical services planning and to assist the mobile television links during the race legs. Vector had been preparing these functions since 2004. After a race leg path has been taken from the GIS environment, WinEDT gives a significant support in identifying the right places where the intermediate link nodes are to be put. They provide the connection between the taking points (motorbikes and helicopters) and the receiving site where the program direction is located. Also, WinEDT may produce the helicopter flight plans according to the ground receiving points previously identified. Aimed to assist all the bike races covered by the RAI programs, WinEDT provides a specifically designed mapping documentation. This is forwarded to technical people, pilots, TV operators and bikers who participate in the event. The current WinEDT release is also giving a strong support in field surveys, to find out where to locate the helicopter receiving stations. This support has dramatically reduced the time and the uncertainty associated to this rather critical task.
